i was reading on a mazda forum about some guys who fill the empty space in there engine mounts with silicone and when it hardens it creates a "solid style" mount. has anyone had any experience with this for making a stronger mount? I cant see it working that great, but i suppose it could have some benefits?

I have a complete motor mount set of Prothane inserts on my other car. Makes a big difference. A lot stronger than its OEM counterparts.

I know there are those who fill their mounts with either urethane or silicone... with more people leaning towards urethane... when doing something like this you sacrifice some in ride quality (a little more vibration and a little more cabin noise)

i would be totally fine with loosing some ride quality, as long as the method truly works. could you post a writeup or direct me to the propper place on injecting urethane into stock mounts?

from what i understand you have to take your mounts off your car and fill from there

or

buy new mounts and fill those up and replace...

You can accomplish the same same result by getting an engine damper and it's a lot easier to install.

The Ingalls is due out soon. I think February but I'm not sure about that.

brandon, do you need the writeup on removing the mounts off the car as well? that info i don't have... (although woulud be very useful) ... for the mounts you pretty much duct tape one side of the mount so it's sealed and pour the urethane in... let it cure and that should be it... a lot of people go with the Shore 94A urethane...

how long does this take to cure, and also how long will it last?

I think some people have put it under an oven for quicker curing times, but I have to double check on that. Let me do some research and I will link you to some write-ups that are around the boards. :tu:
