View Full Version : Suspension install woes...
So I just put my TRD shocks and Skunk2 springs on the front and I noticed I can spin the spring a little bit on the shock after I put it back on the car. The car is still jacked up in the air with no pressure on the suspension, but the springs still shoudn't be able to spin should they? In all the installs I've done before I never noticed this. Is this normal until I set it on the ground and the pressure will keep it in there tight? Or did something go wrong?
I got everything tightened as tight as I can get it and everything went on like stock, but I'm a bit scared to drive it like this....

yes, you're OK..
crap springs will do this to you now and again.. they just don't have enough preload..
now, if they can be wiggled OUT easily, i'd say you're in trouble. just don't go airborne in your car and you should be fine ;)
thanks. that calmed my nerves a little. lol
it doesn't wiggle side to side or anything, it just spin's about 3/4" to 1" where the bottom of the spring meets the mount of the shock. I'll drop it down here in a bit and re-check all my nuts and bolts and see how it goes.

just make sure the "end" of the spring is firmly seated against the "stop" on the strut mount.
the tC Tein S-tech springs are improperly clocked in the rear, so they don't line up top/bottom.. total crap. sometimes clocking them incorrectly is the only answer.
thats the problem I'm having. The end of the spring moves about an inch away from the stop on the shock. It is still seated fine on the shock, but I'm worried this will move under driving conditions and eventually wear away at the shock because of the friction. I may just end up taking it in to the dealership and see if they can figure something out for the front. My warranty is up in 3 weeks anyhow. The passenger side front isn't as bad, but it too moves a little bit.
I just hope the rears go much better since they aren't coil-over shock type.

good luck man, i'd say ditch them for some good quality pieces, but then i'd sound like an elitist ;)
thanks for your input. it's kept me somewhat calm. I thought Skunk2's would be a good choice. Honda guys love 'em. I guess worst case scenario I find out these Skunk2's don't seat right by the dealer and I go with Eibach's again.
or I take it for a test drive and slam my front end!:tear:
