i've got a transformers theme goin for my xa. for anyone that used to watch the cartoos, the transformers were and still are 'more than meets the eye'. so the few mods i want to do i want them to be unnoticeable to the naked eye.
here's where i'm stuck. i want to put a sub in the back of rumblebee, but i don't want it to be seen. so i came up with the idea to drill holes in the center of the trunk cover and install the sub inside the bowl of the spare tire. then bolt 2 amps under the cover - one for the sub and one for the factory speakers. is this feasable or am i just trying too hard?
the purpose for the 'custom cover' part is because the original cover is thick. i wanted to get a thinner version so i could drill some holes to give it the look like a standard speaker cover. i appreciate anyone's observations and opinions on this.

U build a new floor but raise it to get more space underneath. Can use a Pioneer Shallow Mount sub to utilize the underfloor space better. As for puttin the amps under the floor, not such a good idea. One of the NRG members by me has an amp under his custom sub enclosure in his tC and he runs into alot of overheating problems and the amp is constantly goin into protect mode. If u small enough amps u can stick them under the seats, hidden and get some decent ventilation.
Hmmm, transformers theme. Maybe do the raised floor like I said above but make the cover split down the middle. Then have an actuator raise both halves eaching having an amp mounted to them and exposing a sub or two underneath. Goes from a normal floor to somethin transformed:D

I am about 1/2 way through making a custom sub box over the spare tire and under the back trunk floor panel. It will fit the pioneer 12" shallow sub. I could fit the stock floor panel back on, but I am also getting a false floor MDF wrapped with windows for the amp and sub to show them off. I ended up getting an amp rack that sits on the side of the spare tire. Ill post pictures when its done, hopefully by Saturday.

at one point in time i thought about doing a transformers theme too.
what would be cool is that small system can 'transform' into a full pledged entertainment system.
I'd also thought about putting some darker gray lines and some rivet looking vinyls around my car to make it look like the joints where the body breaks away from the car.

I had my amp mounted in the spare tire well, and as stated above, I had ALOT of overheating problems. if you mount it under there, you would be best to vent it somehow, and possibly even install a small fan. I think thats what I'm going to do with mine.

I had the same problem with my xB.

thanks for the heads up on the heating problems with the amp. What were the specs on your amp? wattage and brand?
